Controlled Folder Access
Controlled Folder Access functions as a write-blocker for user libraries. It prevents unauthorized applications from modifying, deleting, or encrypting files in protected directories.
Operational Modes
Enabled (Block)
Standard operation. Unauthorized write attempts to protected folders are blocked. The system issues an "Access Denied" notification.
Log Only (Audit Mode)
Write attempts are permitted, but the event is logged in the Windows Event Viewer. Intended for compatibility testing.
Disabled
Protection is inactive. Applications have standard filesystem access permissions.
Configuration
To authorize a legitimate application blocked by this feature, add the executable to the "Allowed Apps" list within the Windows Security settings interface.
